Donation of Equipment to Wisconsin Hoofers
Wisconsin Hoofers welcomes and appreciates the donation of equipment and horses, donation of supplies and materials, and donation of funds.
Equipment Donation Steps
If you wish to donate to Hoofers, here is a guideline to the process.
· Consult with your accountant to discuss specific donation benefits to you.
· Contact Hoofers to see if the equipment is desired by a Hoofers club.
· Get an appraiser to determine donation value of equipment if over $5,000 (if you plan to claim tax benefits).
· Complete and send Hoofers a donation letter. You can copy from this Donationletterexample.doc and paste into your letterhead. Just ask if we can help with this.
Once your donation letter is received:
· Hoofers will vote to officially accept equipment.
· The Outdoor Programs Office will send you an official letter of acceptance, and notify the University of the gift.
Equipment Potentially Useful for Hoofers
Below is a partial list of items that may be useful for Hoofer programs.
· Horses suitable for lessons for adults beginners or advanced riders
· Horse tack
· Farm Equipment (manure spreader, wheelbarrows, tractors, front loader, horse trailer, etc.)
· 4 wheel-drive ATV (Gator-type)
· Selected types of sailboats (especially keelboats) and sails
· Bikes
· Safety motorboats especially Whalers
· Selected canoes, kayaks, paddles, and related equipment
· Full-sized refrigerator/freezer
· Maintenance shop equipment and tools
· Outdoor recreation books and DVDs
· Quality office printer
· Somewhat modern computers/laptops, printers, scanners, LCD displays, digital cameras, video cameras
· And any items that can be resold
